Information We Collect
DataByArea.com can be used without creating an account. We do not collect payment card numbers through the site. If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, name, organization, page URL, correction request, partnership question, or other message details.
Like most websites, we may receive limited technical and usage information automatically, including browser type, device type, referring page, approximate location derived from network information, pages visited, and timestamps. This information helps us maintain site reliability, understand which pages are useful, detect abuse, and improve content.
Browser-Local Tools
Some DataByArea tools let you save a "My city" or carry comparison choices between pages. Those preferences are stored in your browser using local storage and are not an account profile. You can clear them by using your browser's site data controls.
How We Use Information
We use information to operate and secure the site, respond to messages, review data corrections, improve page quality, measure aggregate usage, and evaluate partnership or licensing inquiries. We do not use contact emails to create a public profile.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
We may use cookies, local storage, pixels, or similar technologies for site functionality, analytics, advertising measurement, fraud prevention, and performance. You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Some features may work differently if cookies or local storage are disabled.
Third-Party Services
DataByArea uses Cloudflare for hosting, security, and content delivery. We use Google AdSense for site verification and, after separate approval and consent-readiness checks, display advertising on selected articles, rankings, state hubs, and reviewed city dashboards. Auto Ads remain disabled during site verification. External websites linked from DataByArea are governed by their own policies and practices.
Networx contractor-matching forms are kept separate from display advertising. When a Networx form is available, its consent notice, terms, privacy links, and submission behavior apply to that form.
Display Advertising and Personalization
If display advertising is activated, Google AdSense and its advertising partners may use cookies, local storage, device information, approximate location, page activity, and advertising identifiers to select, deliver, limit, measure, and report advertisements; prevent fraud; and provide contextual or personalized advertising when permitted.
The AdSense loader runs only on page types approved for display advertising. DataByArea does not independently record ad clicks, advertising identifiers, or consent strings. Advertising impressions, viewability, and revenue are reported by Google.
Consent Management
When AdSense advertising is active, Google Privacy & Messaging may ask visitors in certain regions to accept, reject, or manage advertising purposes and vendors. A visitor who rejects personalized advertising may receive contextual advertising where allowed. Required consent is collected before an advertising request that relies on that consent.
You can return to Google-managed preference controls through the persistent Privacy Choices link in the site footer. Browser Global Privacy Control signals are honored where required by law.
Sharing and Disclosure
We may share information with service providers that help operate the site, when required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate misuse, or as part of a business transfer involving the site. We do not sell contact inquiry emails as a mailing list.
Data Retention and Security
We keep contact messages and operational records only as long as reasonably needed for support, correction review, legal, security, and business purposes. We use reasonable safeguards, but no website or internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your Choices and Requests
You can block or delete cookies and local storage through your browser. You can also contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or review of personal information you previously provided to us, subject to legal and operational limits.

Privacy Choices
When Google Privacy & Messaging is active, use its provider-managed “Manage Preferences” or “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” control to reopen your advertising choices. If that provider control is not displayed, Auto Ads are not active on this page.

Children's Privacy
DataByArea.com is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
